Monday Catch-Up: Obama’s “Signature Achievement” Finally Has Bipartisan Agreement: Everyone Hates It!

In case you missed it:

60 Minutes decided to commit an act of journalism one year + after Benghazi, confirming what conservative have been saying all along. This wasn’t about some stupid video – it was “a planned, sophisticated attack” by al Qaeda, precipitated by clear warnings that were ignored by Hillary Clinton’s State Dept. And the key question (asked by conservatives since the beginning) of why no one was ever sent to help,  remains unanswered.

The Regime’s epic failures in Benghazi required a cover story, and they decided to run with the phony anti-Mohammed video narrative that news outlets like CBS accepted at the time.

Via Legal Insurrection, Hillary and Obama blamed a video and stood by the caskets perpetuating that lie.

Watch these videos, and consider the cold hearts that blamed a video for political purposes when they knew it was not true:

I know I wasn’t the only American whose B.S. Meter pegged to the flashing red “Total Bullsh*t” zone when I heard that, but the MSM not only reported it uncritically – they attacked Mitt Romney for questioning it. One year later though, the MSM admits the Regime was lying. One wonders if they’re just trying to get Benghazi out of the way, now, so in 2016 it will be old “what difference does it make?!” news.

CBS is on a roll, committing still more acts of journalism on the inherent problems of ObamaCare that go beyond its fubar website:

Obamcare_Cartoon

Hot Air: CBS: Millions of cancellations and skyrocketing costs the big problem of ObamaCare:

Advocates of ObamaCare have predicted that when the White House manages to fix the problems with the Healthcare.gov exchange, opponents will have expended all their firepower and will be left twisting in the wind. As CBS reported again this morning, that’s hardly the case — and the website is hardly the main problem with the program. In fact, the media attention on the website actually masks the biggest problems with ObamaCare, which are skyrocketing premiums and millions of people getting kicked out of the plans they chose:

For many, their introduction to the Affordable Care Act has been negative: a broken website, and now cancellation notices from insurance companies followed by sticker shock over higher prices for the new plans. It’s directly at odds with repeated assurances from the president, who has said “if you like your insurance plan, you will keep it. No one will be able to take that away from you.”

But people across the country are finding out they’re losing their existing insurance plans under Obamacare because requirements in the law, such as prenatal and prescription drug coverage, mean their old plans aren’t comprehensive enough.

In California, Kaiser Permanente terminated policies for 160,000 people. In Florida, at least 300,000 people are losing coverage.

Ace of Spades HQ: June 29, 2012 “Politifact” Ruling on Obama’s Promise That If You Like Your Insurance, You Get to Keep Your Insurance: True:

Actually, Politifact said it was half-true — but it was only partly false due to the insurance companies’ ability to terminate you at will, not due to anything in ObamaCare requiring them to terminate your policies.

Marc Thiessen, The Washington Post: Delaying the individual mandate won’t fix Obamacare:

What a difference a few weeks makes. Remember when Democrats voted to keep the government shut down rather than accept a delay in the individual mandate? Now that the Obamacare implosion is dominating the news, they are falling over each to see who gets credit for a delay.

Sen. Joe Manchin III (D-W.Va.) is pushing legislation to delay the mandate for one year. And last week, 10 Senate Democrats — Jeanne Shaheen (N.H.), Mark Begich (Alaska), Mark Pryor (Ark.), Mary Landrieu (La.), Kay Hagan (N.C.), Dianne Feinstein (Calif.), Mark Udall (Colo.), Tom Udall (N.M.), Michael Bennet (Colo.) and Martin Heinrich (N.M.) — wrote to the Obama administration declaring that individuals “should not be penalized for lack of coverage” if they are unable to purchase health insurance because of technical problems.

With more Democrats joining the mandate-delay caucus, President Obama may have no choice but to go along. But such a delay would do nothing to right the Obamacare train wreck. That’s because hundreds of thousands of Americans are getting letters from their insurers informing them that their policies are being canceled because of Obamacare — and the numbers could soon be in the millions. If you are one of those Americans losing your health insurance on Jan. 1, the last thing you are worried about is some $95 fine. You are furious that you and your family no longer have health insurance because of Obamacare.

Seton Motley, Human Events: Brit gov health care website: Nine years, $15 billion and counting- site scrapped:

ObamaCare is a disaster.  It is doing incredible damage to our nation – well beyond just the health insurance sector.  Just about everything President Barack Obama and his fellow zealot ideologue cheerleaders promised it would deliver was an exact-opposite lie.

The President promised a family of four a $2,500 premium reduction:

ObamaCare Will Increase Avg. Individual-Market Insurance Premiums By 99% For Men, 62% For Women

The President promised if you like your (insurance) plan, you can keep your plan:

The New York Post: ObamaCare website might have to be rebuilt:

The chairman of the House Intelligence Committee said ObamaCare’s Web site, already a tangled mess, might need to be rebuilt from scratch to to protect against cyber-thieves because he fears it’s not a safe place right now for health-care consumers to deposit their personal information.

“ I know that they’ve called in another private entity to try to help with the security of it. The problem is, they may have to redesign the entire system,” Rep. Mike Rogers said on Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” political talk show. “The way the system is designed, it is not secure.”

Returning to questions he raised last week at a chaotic oversight hearing on ObamaCare, Rogers said healthcare.gov could be vulnerable to cyber-mischief because of a potentially leaky data-sharing arrangement between the seven federal agencies that manage different parts of ObamaCare.

Ace of Spades: Democratic Consultant with “Strong” Ties to the White House: The “Dem Party is F***ed”:

Via Hot Air, Ron Fournier discloses an email from a consultant.

“Dem Party is F****d.” That was the subject line of an email sent to me Sunday by a senior Democratic consultant with strong ties to the White House and Capitol Hill. The body of the email contained a link to this Los Angeles Times story about Obamacare “sticker shock:” “These middle-class consumers are staring at hefty increases on their insurance bills as the overhaul remakes the healthcare market. Their rates are rising in large part to help offset the higher costs of covering sicker, poorer people who have been shut out of the system for years.”

Darrell Issa to Subpoena HealthCare.gov Records: Obama ‘Missed Management 101′:

Senator John Cornyn: Obamacare: PhD Required?
The bad news continues to pile up for President Obama’s healthcare reform, the Affordable Care Act. In addition to a faulty website, reports of rising premiums, and insurance companies cutting patients from their rolls, Obamacare faces a huge public opinion problem. People aren’t exactly running to sign up. The entire system, which is based on large participation by the public, is in danger of collapse.
To combat public confusion and low rates of participation, the administration has undertaken an expensive advertising campaign. The administration has sought the services of the NFL and other public figures to rally support for the widely unpopular program. Additionally, academics on the left are doing their part to cover for Obamacare’s failures.
At the University of Texas- Austin’s LBJ School of Public Affairs, a graduate-level course is being offered in the spring of 2014 in order to guide students through the complicated process of enrolling in Obamacare. If Obamacare is so complicated that you need to be a PhD to navigate it, how will the majority of Texans benefit?

Watcher of Weasels: Forum: What Do You Predict The Ultimate Fate Of ObamaCare Will Be?

What Do You Predict The Ultimate Fate Of ObamaCare Will Be?

The Independent Sentinel:Obamacare will devolve into a single payer system. That is what the Medicaid expansion was about. Forcing millions into the government-run program is the beginning. That is why we saw the negative reaction from Democrats when the Supreme Court of the United States gave states the option to opt-out of the expansion.

People are flocking to Medicaid in droves. Obamacare will be Medicaid for all, and unfortunately, it’s a poor system that pays doctors and hospitals too little.

Medicare lost $716 billion in future payments to doctors and hospitals. The money was transferred to the Medicaid expansion.

The Medicare rationing has already begun.

There are now rewards for hospitals that do not help seniors and there are penalties for those that do according to IBD: Hospitals that spend the least on seniors get bonus points, and higher-spending hospitals get demerits. Hospitals will even be penalized for care consumed up to 30 days after patients are discharged, for example, for outpatient physical therapy following a hip or knee replacement. There will be far fewer joint replacements, cataract surgeries, bypass surgeries on the elderly.

Several of the doctors I know told me it is too late. Our healthcare system is ruined.

The local hospitals on Long Island are facing closure because of the burdens being placed on them. Catholic hospitals that accommodate 1 out of 6 patients in America are facing closure due to the penalties that will be imposed on them for refusing to provide abortifacients and related services. Charitable hospitals are facing their demise.

It will be all government, a government that does not allow judicial recourse.

John Fund, The Corner: Obama’s Valerie Jarrett: Often Whispered about, But Never Challenged:

Jarrett, an old Chicago friend of both Barack and Michelle Obama, appears to exercise such extraordinary influence she is sometimes quietly referred to as “Rasputin” on Capitol Hill, a reference to the mystical monk who held sway over Russia’s Czar Nicholas as he increasingly lost touch with reality during World War I.

Darrell Delamaide, a columnist for Dow Jones’s MarketWatch, says that “what has baffled many observers is how Jarrett, a former cog in the Chicago political machine and a real-estate executive, can exert such influence on policy despite her lack of qualifications in national security, foreign policy, economics, legislation or any of the other myriad specialties the president needs in an adviser.”

Canada Free Press: Meet Valerie Jarrett daughter Laura’s computer scandal tinged father-in-law:

Before landing at the Pink Palace as a ready-made Liberal MPP, Balkissoon was a City of Toronto councillor involved in a computer leasing scandal.

Wow, what a coincidence!

Just as key Barack Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett’s fingerprints are all over the Obama administration, the Obama administration’s fingerprints are all over the Province of Ontario.  And last time we checked, Ontario was still a duly recognized province in Canada.

If Obama’s presence by proxy in Ontario doesn’t give Canadians who believe in sovereignty the creeps, nothing will.

“The Balkissoon-Jarrett marriage is one of several links between Premier Dalton McGuinty’s Liberals and Obama.  From 2000 until 2002, David Axelrod, another key adviser to the president, was a paid McGuinty strategist. (Toronto Star, June 20, 2012).

“As well, Toronto Liberal Jean-Michel Picher, who helped the premier in the run-up to last year’s provincial election, was an early Obama insider who worked on the then-Illinois senator’s historic presidential primary campaign in 2007 and 2008.”

And that’s just the Obama links in the Liberal Ontario government.

The Daily Caller: The U.S. Army will stop labeling Christians as ‘extremists’ threatening America:

Here’s some good news: the Secretary of the Army, John McHugh, sent an Army-wide memorandum ordering a halt to all briefings classifying Christian groups as domestic hate groups.

The Oct. 18. order came a few days after Fox News reported that a large number of active duty and reserve troops were instructed that a Christian group called the American Family Association is an extremist hate group which poses a threat to America.

McHugh was reacting to the Fox report as well as pressure from Congress.

“This most recent mislabeling of a Christian organization reflects what appears to be a troubling trend of religious intolerance in the military,” wrote Rep. Doug Lamborn in a letter signed by four other members of Congress.

McHugh’s memo laid out a plan to standardize future instruction to troops concerning hate groups.

“Media accounts have highlighted instances of Army instructors supplementing programs of instruction and including information or material that is inaccurate, objectionable, and otherwise inconsistent with current Army policy,” McHugh’s memo stated. “For example, in two recent high-profile cases, Army instructors found information on the website of a particular special interest group that identified certain groups as ‘extremist’ in nature, and presented that information as part of their instruction.”

McHugh noted that “the groups identified in the instruction were not ‘extremist’ organizations” as that term is actually defined by the Army.

Good news, but a sad sign of the times that this was even necessary.

Paging Eric Holder, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Ben Jealous and Barack Obama…..Gateway Pundit: Four Black Teens Arrested in Fatal Mugging of WWII Veteran (Video):
Lawrence E. ‘Shine’ Thornton of Greenville, Mississippi was a World War II veteran and and a famous personality in the Delta region for his hot tamales.

But last week the 87 year-old veteran was mugged and murdered in his driveway.
Four black teens were later charged with capital murder in the fatal mugging.
The Sun Herald reported:

Four people have been charged with capital murder in the fatal mugging of 87-year-old Lawrence E. ‘Shine’ Thornton of Greenville.

This comes less than two weeks after this story: Brooklyn group of black youths blocks white couple’s car, bloody victims in racial attack:

Authorities say Ronald and Alana Russo were pummeled by attackers — ranging in age from 12 to 18 — who showered them with racial slurs. One Brooklyn teen says he was falsely arrested because he was wearing the same outfit as one of the assailants.

Christian News: Christian Woman Pays for Man’s Groceries After He Steals Wallet:

GUTHRIE, Okla. – A Christian woman from Oklahoma recently stunned a man who stole her wallet after she offered to pay for his groceries.

The situation happened earlier this month when Jessica Eaves, who serves as an outreach leader at First Christian Church of Guthrie, realized that her wallet was suddenly missing.

She had been shopping in her local grocery store and remembered seeing a man come up behind her. The next thing she knew, her wallet was missing from her purse.

However, instead of immediately calling the police, Eaves decided to do something bold: she tracked him down. But as she did so, an admonition from the Bible came to mind. “So I walked toward him and kind of weaved through the carts,” she told local television station KWTV. “And as I did, this Scripture from Luke kind of jumped out at me that said if someone hits you on the cheek, turn the other cheek. If someone steals your cloak, give them your shirt. So I thought, ‘Well, I’ll just be nice.’”

“I said to him, ‘I think you have something of mine. I’m gonna give you a choice,’” she told reporters. “You can either give me my wallet and I’ll forgive you right now, and I’ll even take you to the front and pay for your groceries.”

Ummm…nothing to see here….Reuters: U.S. Secret Service agent found dead, apparent suicide: source:

A U.S. Secret Service agent assigned to President Barack Obama’s protective detail was found dead on Saturday in an apparent suicide, a law enforcement source said on Thursday.

Special agent Rafael Prieto was under investigation for having an unreported romantic relationship with a foreign national, the source said.

The agent’s death is being investigated by the District of Columbia police, said Max Milien, a spokesman for the Secret Service.

“Rafael Prieto has a distinguished 20-year career with the Secret Service that was marked by accomplishment, dedication, friendships and the Secret Service is mourning a valued colleague,” said Milien.

The Other McCain: Roger Shuler: Another Kook Succumbs to ‘Investigative Blogger Syndrome’:

Let’s pause to ask: Is there a moral equivalence between the reporting that I and others have done about Brett Kimberlin and the kind of Investigative Blogger Syndrome act that has landed Roger Shuler in the Shelby County Jail as Inmate No. 288928?

It’s a fair question, and there have been many times in the past 17 months that I’ve stopped, stepped back and asked myself whether I’ve gone down the rabbit hole into Wonderland. But the list of people who’ve endured the same pattern of harassment is long enough that, even if I were not a defendant in the federal RICO suit Kimberlin v. the Universe, et al., the story would still be newsworthy.

Crazy as hell, yes, but still newsworthy:

Like Kimberlin’s past acts of anti-free-speech thuggery, his tactics serve to remind people of the very facts he seeks to bury.
With the filing of this lawsuit, more people will learn that Brett Kimberlin was convicted for setting off numerous bombs, one of which blew off a man’s leg. More people will learn of his dishonest machinations to avoid paying a wrongful death judgment to the widow of the man whose leg Kimberlin blew off — a Vietnam veteran who survived the war, but could not survive the pain of the wounds Kimberlin inflicted. More people will learn that, when he set off those bombs in Speedway, police suspected him of complicity in the murder of a grandmother of a young preteen girl, with whom Kimberlin had had a relationship that many people (including the grandmother) considered inappropriate. . . .
Kimberlin’s actions are not rational — but then, “rational” is not a word you would typically use to describe a violent criminal sentenced to 50 years in prison for maiming a man with a bomb. . . .

And here’s the key difference: I didn’t pick a pre-demonized scapegoat. I didn’t claim that the story I’m covering proves corruption by Eric Holder or President Obama or some other conspiratorial combination of Democrats. Trust me when I say that there are plenty of people who can’t figure out why Kimberlin’s associate Neal Rauhauser hasn’t been arrested yet. And well do I recall some people last year telling me, “Stacy, you’ve got to show how this is connected to Obama.”

Market Ticker: There Is Only ONE Peaceful Path Left To Avoid Destruction:

Folks, if you have read me recently you know that I’ve said that you are the problem and that the reason this is true is that you won’t go on strike, you won’t picket DC and refuse to leave until the government stops stealing from you and debasing the currency, you won’t reduce your spending and income to only that which provides necessities, and most of you go on to justify your behavior with “my kids (and/or family) deserve what I can provide.”

You’re fools and I’m going to prove it.

Further, I’m going to prove — by arithmetic — that if you follow the above path you will destroy yourself along with your children and grandchildren.

Here’s why.

There were 108,592,000 people in the United States in the fourth quarter of 2011 who were recipients of one or more means-tested government benefit programs, the Census Bureau said in data released this week. Meanwhile, according to the Census Bureau, there were 101,716,000 people who worked full-time year round in 2011. That included both private-sector and government workers.

None of the people getting means-tested government benefits will ever vote to reduce them, nor vote for any politician that will reduce them.

But it’s factually much worse than it first appears because federal government workers will not vote to fire themselves either, just as the 17th Amendment (ed: The worst thing to ever happen to this country) is inviolate because The Senate will never vote to fire itself.

So we must in fact subtract 21,880,000 from the full-time worker count. In other words, you’re outvoted by 36%.

Watchdog.org: House tries blocking ‘illegal’ IRS checks; Harry Reid says system working ‘fine’:

The House of Representatives repeatedly has passed an IRS bill that could save U.S. taxpayers up to $24.4 billion over the next 10 years — but Harry Reid’s Democratic Senate will not hear it.

The Refundable Child Tax Credit Eligibility Verification Reform Act, or H.R. 556, would require tax filers to provide Social Security numbers to claim child tax credits.

Currently, the IRS allows undocumented residents to collect the $1,000 credits for dependents not even living in the country. Watchdog reported that illegal immigrants received $4.2 billion from the tax agency in just one year.

“My bill (targets) billions of dollars in waste, fraud and abuse. Instead of hitting up taxpayers for even more taxes, Washington needs to go after these billions of dollars,” said U.S. Rep. Sam Johnson, R-Texas.

Though the GOP-controlled House has passed Johnson’s measure three times, Senate Majority Leader Reid, D-Nev., refuses to allow the bill to come up for a vote in his chamber.

The Other McCain: How @Elliott_Echols Won Twitter:

Ali Akbar called me Friday afternoon to tell me that the New York Times had mocked a young Republican operative:

Seven months after a report described the Republican Party’s image as “old and detached from pop culture,” it has hired Elliott Echols, 23, to serve as its first national youth director. . . .
Raffi Williams, the R.N.C. spokesman for youth media, said Mr. Echols was chosen because of his organizing and recruitment experience with College Republican groups. . . .
But hours after his announcement, the man who would be in charge of growing Republican support among the voting bloc most active on social media had fewer than 600 followers on Twitter. . . .

Ali decided to fix that problem. He went to work promoting Echols on Twitter, while also sending around e-mails urging others to join the crusade and demonstrate to the New York Times the effectiveness of conservative grassroots New Media activism on “Follow Friday.”

Nowhere near enough time to cover any of these subjects. We need at least, “A Week in Review”.
